One Book Wonders | Sermon 3 - Encouragement of Hospitality

3 John is a personal letter written to Gaius concerning the actions of one named Diotrephes. John offers words of encouragement and words of warning. In this vein, 3 John is very similar to the 1 and 2 John. The theme of walking in the truth appears once again (4), albeit in a different context. Essentially, the letter is a commendation of the hospitality shown by Gaius and at the same time a condemnation of the hostility vented by Diotrephes.
