Job and Ecclesiastes Lesson 1: THE TESTING OF JOB'S FAITH

The life of Job is one of the best-known stories in the Old Testament. The book opens with a description of an upright man of great wealth (1:1-5), who, in God's sovereign providence (1:6-2:7), loses everything. Job's debates with his three “friends,” (Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar) fill a good portion of the book (3:1-37:24), which concludes with a divine diagnosis of the situation (38-42). Job opens and closes with prose, but the majority of the book consists of various kinds of poetry
