In the final section of the book (7:1-9:15) Amos recounts visions of Israel’s coming judgment. Although the book ends on a note of hope (9:11-15), presently Israel stands in a perilous situation of inescapable doom. Because of his strong message of judgment Amos encountered opposition. Resistance to God’s prophet comes as no surprise. Those opposed to the things of God will also oppose God's man. In this case, however, opposition only strengthened Amos and increased his courage. God gives boldness to his faithful servants.
