Acts Sermon 8: Continuation of First Missionary Journey

Acts 12 records yet another instance of persecution against the church initiated by Herod Agrippa, grandson of Herod the Great. Herod put James the brother of John to death and, since this “pleased the Jews,” he imprisoned Peter (12:1-3). Yet, this only gave occasion for God to be glorified in Peter’s miraculous release (12:5-17). Herod was struck by the Lord and died (12:23), and the word of God continued to grow.
