1&2 Timothy | Lesson 1 - Glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

1 & 2 Timothy and Titus are known as the "Pastoral Epistles" because they were written to individuals instead of congregations. These letters contain pastoral advice regarding practical matters such as church order and doctrine. 1 & 2 Timothy is named for its recipient, Timothy, who was mentored by and often ministered with Paul (cf. Acts 16:1-5; Philippians 2:19-24). Today’s lesson describes the glory of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a faithful pastor, one of Timothy's primary responsibilities was to oppose false teaching and promote fidelity to the one true gospel. The focal passages for this study emphasize the need to oppose false doctrine and the glories of the grace of God in Jesus.
