Galatians Lesson 3: The Story of Paul (Part 2)

In Galatians 1,, Paul established his independence from the Jerusalem apostles (see especially 1:16-20). He did so because the validity of the gospel he preached was directly tied to the legitimacy of his apostolic call.. In Galatians 2 Paul continues the defense of his apostolic authority by describing his relationship to the other apostles.. He demonstrates that,, although independent from the Jerusalem apostles,, he is in harmony with them (2:1-10). Paul then mentions a confrontation he had with Peter in Syrian Antioch because Peter had temporarily compromised his beliefs (2:11-14)).
