2 Timothy 4 records Paul’s final charge to Timothy, his son in the faith. The tone of the exhortation is very serious. Paul knew that his death was near, and he wanted Timothy to persist faithfully in the things of God (4:1-5). Paul faced death with great anticipation and confidence (4:6-8), knowing that the Lord would bring him safely into the kingdom (4:18). The reality of death brings the things that really matter into focus. Maintaining proper priorities enables us to serve the Lord with great confidence. We can have confidence in both life and death
